Re: [reSIProcate-users] c-ares pkg of resiprocate-1.7 does not support IPV6

The ares used in resiprocate was branched many years ago from the base ares MIT project.  It has since received many local updates, including IPv6 support.  c-ares is also such a branch.  In fact if you are building on linux, then the ./configure script lets you choose between linking with the local ares branch or an external copy of c-ares.

Hi,

I found that c-ares included in resiprocate-1.7/contrib still uses very old release 1.1.1, and it does not support IPV6.

Here are some limits from README file:
Some features are missing from the current version of ares, relative
to the BIND resolver:

    * There is no IPV6 support.
    * There is no hostname verification.

The latest c-ares release version is c-ares 1.7.5, 729KB (16-aug-2011).

Some noticeable changes from ares include:

  • IPv6 support
  • ...................
When will resiprocate pkg start to use c-ares 1.7.5 in order to support IPV6?

Thanks,

Frank
