Re: [reSIProcate-users] Evaluating reSIProcate as vendor

Hi Linda,

I’m trying to evaluate ReSIProcate’s SIP Stack to include in a product for my company.

The Windows SIP stack must run on both Vista and Windows 7.  We will only ship the 64bit version of Windows 7.

However, our application that will talk to the SIP API will be a 32 bit application.

1)     Has the ReSIProcate SIP stack been tested on Vista? Does ReSIProcate do any ports to ensure their product works

on any of the latest operating systems or is that entirely up to the user community?

2)     Has the ReSIProcate SIP stack been tested on 64bit Windows 7 as a 32 bit SIP application? This is similar to question 1.

Is the porting up to the user community?

It is entirely up to the user community.  I have done a reasonable amount of testing using 64-bit Windows 7 with resiprocate compiled as a 32-bit application.

3)     What about roadmaps? Is there a roadmap that ReSIProcate has with respect to the SIP Stack in terms of features to add

to it ? Or have you made your entrance into the market and are expecting the user group to continue with the add-on development?

There isn't really an official roadmap - it is really user/community driven at this point.

4)     Demo?? The documentation on each class/method is great, but you need to know what you are looking for. Is there sample

code on how to initialize the stack, initiate call and receive a call? The links I’ve found are to blank pages or to pages where

there are no links underneath.

There are samples in the test directories of the various reSIP projects - check out /resip/stack/test for core stack samples, and /resip/dum/test for Dialog Usage Manager Samples.  For a more complete project sample check out recon and testUA in resip/recon/test.

5)     Fees, you are open source, but are there any licensing fee associated with your product if we decide to use it in our

product?

There are no fee's, for a more complete description of the various open source licenses used throughout the resiprocate projects see:  http://www.resiprocate.org/License

6)     Support – do you make arrangement with customers for support? Or is support only available through your blog? If

outside the blog arrangements are made, what do you charge per hour for customer support?

Main support is via the mailing lists.

Thanks in advance for you time,

Linda
