You can run the stack with its own thread that is indepdendent from the thread working with Dum (http://www.resiprocate.org/Running_the_stack_in_a_multithreaded_mode), but if you're using Dum, you need to make sure that only one thread is calling process() or making calls into dum (http://www.resiprocate.org/DUM_Threading)
