[reSIProcate] Building a DUM application using the 0.9 tarball

Hi all,

I may be missing something, but it appears the files in dum/test don't
actually build with the new tarball -- in otherwords, there isn't an
example dum application makefile for folks to tweak if they move to
the tarball, and the old makefile system won't work anymore.

That is unfortunate since the makefile system has clearly changed. I
may have missed the debate on this, so sorry if this is late, but this
is sort of ugly now -- the Makefile.in that is used for the
non-autotools version of make is generated by autotools and is 347
lines in dum/test -- vs. 16 for the old one -- and doesn't even make
anything. It appears that I either have to edit (somehow) the 347 line
file, or use autotools (which is a pain since some systems I have
don't support those tools and I don't have root).

Two questions:

Does anyone out there have a Makefile.in that works for a dum test
example I can use with the tarball?

Can we revisit these revised makefiles? I really think the older ones
were much easier and didn't require the autotools install. I'd like to
see those included in future tarballs.
