Good catch. This appears to be a regression that was introduced when the 
"fast streams" enhancements were merged in back in 2008. Prior to those 
changes, generation of cnonce resulted in lowercase output.

I've applied your proposed change to the main branch (r9323). It should 
appear in the next release. Thanks!
