resiprocate will only use UPDATES if the dialog hasn't been fully established.  This is recommended in RFC3311.  We could add a setting that allows UPDATE to be used for mid-dialog offer/answer if there was a good use case.

RFC3311 - Section 5.1:
Although UPDATE can be used on confirmed
dialogs, it is RECOMMENDED that a re-INVITE be used instead. This is
because an UPDATE needs to be answered immediately, ruling out the
possibility of user approval. Such approval will frequently be
needed, and is possible with a re-INVITE.

Hello, I'm new to resiprocate, I'm working on write a softphone. It's seems the resip not use the "UPDATE" method for update the INVITE even if both sides are enabled "UPDATE" method(set by MastProfile), it always send the INVITE message when perform "provideOffer".

I have tried the svn main and the new UAS RACK.

My question is: How could I let the reSIProcate use UPDATE to update the INVITE?
