There was something wrong, but I do not yet know what it was. Checking the
logs, I see that the host was still running after the point in time where I
lost contact with it from my monitoring systems. I am awaiting word from one
of the on-site operational people who was flying over the Atlantic at the time
of the outage so I'm giving some time to catch up on sleep before mailing back
about a root-cause.
As for a slow speed several someones mentioned from Sweden and New Zealand, all
I can offer at the moment is that speed seems appropriate in my testing just
prior to sending this message. The main page load time is under one second
from the various client locations I've tried on this side of the pond.
