Before running out of time i will give the osip stack a try.

I think it's fair to say that the Xcode project files were checked in
by mistake. The 'approved' build mechanism on Mac OS X at present is
to use the autotools packaging.  If there is demand or time in the
future, we might release an xcode project file.
