This also works. I'm not sure why passing a temporary as a reference
should be an error though.

Can you try the following instead:
NameAddr targetAddr(*i);
QValueTarget target(targetAddr, 1.0);
The compiler error is misleading - but it may be complaining because we
passing a temporary into a reference argument.
